Frequently Asked Questions

  • I help athletes and active people of all ages, levels, and sports/activity types learn how to fuel their body to support their health and performance. I also offer guidance on the nutritional management of a variety of health conditions and eating for general well-being.

  • Good question! The nutrition coaching call is an opportunity for athletes, sports medicine professionals, coaches, parents, and other individuals to ask general nutrition questions, pick my brain, and develop nutrition strategies for yourself, your child, or your athletes. We can do things like review your race day fueling plan, check in on your daily intake patterns, collaborate on meal ideas, and more.

A nutrition coaching call does not include a formal nutrition assessment and does not constitute medical nutrition therapy/nutrition counseling. We cannot bill insurance for a nutrition coaching call.

If you are seeking in-depth and ongoing nutrition guidance, please book an appointment for 1:1 nutrition support or purchase a 2-session package.

  • The 2-session package includes a 60 minute initial assessment and a 60 minute follow up session at a discounted rate ($30 off). This package is available for self-pay clients only.

Most individuals benefit from additional follow-up sessions beyond this package, and you will have the option to purchase individual follow-up sessions as needed.

  • I am licensed to provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling to individuals located in Washington. If you are receiving either of the services mentioned above and/or we are billing insurance for your visit, you must be in Washington at the time of your appointment (including telehealth appointments).

I can provide services to individuals in some other states depending on licensure laws. If you live outside of Washington and are interested in 1:1 nutrition guidance with Cascade Nutrition, please reach out to discuss.

Cascade Nutrition offers talks, workshops, group presentations, and resource development for groups/organizations throughout Washington. If you are outside of Washington and interested in these services, feel free to reach out to discuss virtual offerings. There are no licensure limitations for this type of service.

  • During your first appointment, we will thoroughly review your medical history, past/current eating patterns, training/movement, nutrition goals, and more. The initial assessment acts as an intake so that all subsequent nutrition recommendations that you receive are individualized and tailored to you.

Follow-up appointments are collaborative sessions where we identify tools and interventions to help you meet your nutrition goals. Follow up sessions often include nutrition education, personalized recommendations, and troubleshooting, depending on your progress and needs.

All appointments are ~60 minutes. Appointment frequency varies depending on your goals and needs.

  • Yes! Cascade Nutrition offers in person appointments at Prime Sports Institute (1704 N State Street) in Bellingham on Wednesdays. Telehealth appointments are available Monday through Thursday and are conducted using video call on Practice Better, a HIPAA compliant electronic medical record/practice management software system that acts as your “home base” for scheduling, virtual appointments, payment, etc.

We are happy to meet with you in person or via telehealth depending on your preference and location.

  • Cascade Nutrition accepts payment via credit card, debit card, HSA/FSA card, and paper check.

  • Cascade Nutrition is in network with Regence insurance. Insurance benefits vary by plan, so please try to verify your coverage details prior to your first appointment. You can do this by calling the customer support phone number on the back of your insurance card or by reviewing your benefits booklet. Please note that quoted benefits are not a guarantee of coverage. If your plan denies a claim due to non-coverage of diagnosis or a visit limit, you are responsible for paying the full balance. If you have questions about your insurance coverage, please reach out.

If you do not have a Regence insurance plan, then we are considered an out-of-network provider and can provide a SuperBill with procedure codes that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. However, this does not guarantee reimbursement and you are still required to pay our fees in full upfront. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to learn more about out of network coverage prior to your first session with us.
